In answer to your question . . . I’m glad to say that Mom is now living with her sister in North Carolina. After a few weeks of uncertainty, we finally were able to push the message of a trial visit. Your talks with Mom, the trips to the Memory Center, the weekly lunch dates, plus the strong advice from her Neurologist, allowed her to make what she believed was her own decision to move.
Where we as family members were unable to convince her, the introduction of you as an unrelated third party plus strong advice from some really fine medical professionals, finally did the trick. Thanks again and please stay in touch.

Please hold November 4th open for a run to the airport. This is the day that I restart my life after 5 years of caregiving for my father and mother. This is due to the excellent care you have given my parents since May.
Part of the problem I faced was a 24/7 routine with no relief. We could not seem to find anyone who all 3 of us found acceptable. First you allowed me to take a 5 day vacation for the first time in 6 years. Then you helped me secure an apartment in town enabling me to concentrate on my life and what I really wanted to do.
I will leave for Chicago with the knowledge that my parents are in good hands. I will speak to you this week as always but wanted to put my thoughts down on paper. Maybe by placing this on your web site it will allow you to give relief to someone who desperately needs help.

Believe it or not today is one year since you have taken over the care of our Uncle Nick. When we finally realized he was suffering from Alzheimer’s we were in a complete panic. As you know he is the last of his generation and is fiercely independent and insists on remaining at home.

I would like to start by thanking you for all the assistance you have given our family while watching over our Mom. The selfless acts of kindness are greatly appreciated.
After the diagnosis and realization that Mom had begun the early stages of Alzheimer’s we were at a loss as how to begin the care required, especially due to the distance we all lived from her.
She wanted to stay up north by herself and we quickly realized this was not possible with so many people in the world ready and able to take advantage of her.
We, as a family decided she would be better in Florida where she had a home and the eldercare was more available. Her regular physician in Boynton Beach was most helpful in beginning the sequence of care. After a quick search of available caregivers we decided to contact you at the suggestion of Dr Byrnes. Although we did not know at the time, this was the best possible solution we could hope to find.
It is refreshing to find a genuinely honest, caring and giving individual in the modern day with so many con artists and untrustworthy people feeding on the senior population which is increasing in numbers everyday.
At the outset you came by at the time you stated you would be there and were very caring and thorough, while being very “laid back” at the same time. You gained her trust and she listened to your advice when dealing with the day-to-day issues. In fact I feel safe in saying she grew quite fond of you and dependent on you which was good for us as she has decided not to drive anymore … which is good for her as well as the other drivers in the area. My mother was quite impressed with you and eventually considered you part of the family.
I cannot thank you enough for the constant communication with all the kids in our family as to her daily, weekly and overall progress in her life.
We have welcomed you into our family and home due to the assistance offered to Mom. I consider you a friend and you are welcome anytime you are in the area.

Through a fortuitous event I learned of Delray-Concierge during a recent relocation to Florida from out of state. Tom at Delray-Concierge helped make the transition and the problems associated with such a move, manageable.
Whether it was hands on unpacking and careful placement of things in the home, or managing the inevitable shopping, TV installation, and other details that such a move entails, he accomplished things in an easy and calming manner. He did the grocery shopping and assembled shelving in my new office. He found me a reasonably priced storage unit to handle the overflow of furniture and other items.
